Hi guys
I'm sorry if what I say offends any of you, but God gives us a choice in life. The reason why God does not show Himself to the world is because He needs to give us a choice to worship Him. If we all saw God we would likely worship Him no matter what. In my opinion being a Christian is great . Have a happyhappyhappy day.

@Anath I'm only about two years into my new-found atheism and so, as a newbie myself, I would like to recommend Atheism Explained From Folly to Philosophy by David Ramsay Steele. I found the book to be very understandable, enjoyable, rational, thought-provoking and informative.

You did not see the list of books, sites, and keywords I sent him, how exactly would you know? You also do not know anything about our family life, so you cannot grasp what such an admission signifies.

He has not "become" anything yet. All he has expressed is that he is leaning towards it, and has begun to open his mind to other viewpoints, some which are taboo and near impossible to find leads on in his situation.

Reading comprehension, please, and if you're just here to insult us and troll, you might want to look elsewhere, or get yourself an actual name. Anonymous is taken already.

The "right way" is thinking for yourself, drawing your own conclusions. If you actually read the two paragraphs that compose this article, you'd see that I was happy my brother had decided for HIMSELF instead of either going with my mother's intentions OR copy catting my cousin and myself. I would have been proud of him regardless of his choice, as long as he CHOSE it, instead of simply following someone or something else.

How about reading the "About" or "FAQ" page before spouting your drivel again here…

You people are the most hypocritical twits I've ever seen in my life. You hate Christianity for its "oppression", yet claim to know what is the "right way" and "wrong way" (to be religious or not, in this case, I assume), just like them. This is a conflict of two opposing propaganda machines and any truly intelligent person would not join either one.

I agree with waldheri. I got this encyclopedia from DK called simply "Universe". I got it while I was in the states. It's very interesting and pretty good. also, regarding to what waldheri said, your should really encourage him into adopting his own philosophy, his own way of thinking and of acting. Probably during the next part he will get pretty confused about his beliefs. Believing in god no more will shake his very foundations that he has created in his mind regarding the world, regarding the view on life and on the way he should act in life, foundations that he has created basing himself on the idea of god. now without "god" he is also left without the conceptions of "morality" and definitions of "good and evil". I know this, because I experienced this when I lost my faith.
So what I would certainly do in your position is encourage him towards individualism. towards developing his OWN way of thinking. he should decide himself what to think, what path to follow etc. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" sort of thing Because some people who lose their faith immediately fall into a different fallacy: that the "modern day" standards and social dogmas are the number one way to go and that there is no other way. you are freeing yourself from one dogma only to find yourself chained by a different one.

Instead of overloading him with antitheist literature, you might want to push some neutral sciency books into his direction so he might get a different take on the origin of matter and the universe, and our place in it. Carl Sagan's Cosmos will probably do that trick pretty well.
