Doctors place beliefs before patient care

A while ago I wrote an article about a Christian doctor who refused to take care of a child because he didn’t like her mother due to his beliefs. At the time I was still hoping it was an exception.

Today I found an article on MSNBC about how this seems to be a very common case in the United States. Conservative Christian doctors and hospitals often deny women a range of legal medical care. Ranging from a morning after pill when they’ve been raped, to IVF for lesbians and the list goes on.

It brings up an actual story of one of those women who were raped and refused help by a Christian doctor. He even worked at a Good Samaritan Hospital. Good Samaritan? Refusing help? Wow, what a good Christian you’re being. Disgusting sack of shit.

Worst is though, the law defends these doctors. Right now that only applies for certain things yet, such as contraception, abortions, sterilisations, and so on. But lawmakers in four States are working on generalizing the bills so doctors can refuse any kind of care that goes against their beliefs. Legally, the wording of that law could even allow doctors to refuse aiding someone in ER, solely because they wear a pentacle or a Thor’s hammer around their neck or on a ring.

This is yet another example why it is impossible to respect Christianity. There is only one way to save the world from this evil, and that is to pulverize their entire religion.

You are judging christianity by people who are not true christians. The definition of christianity is to be “Christ-like” and that is obviously not what they are doing here. Find aomeone who loves God with everything in them and knows the love of Christ and then decide if they are wrong. There are a lot of hypocrites out there to give us a bad name but those who are truly living for Him will always stand strong.

You know, a lot of Christians (especially evangelicals, YECs, etc) keep saying this as if it were an objectively measurable attribute, but if that were true you would think there would be far fewer divisions of Christianity and far less bickering over said definitions. Maybe there could be some consensus as to God’s gender, the Pope would see all Christians as equals, and the homosexual/stemcell/abortion/anything-politically-motivated religious ‘debates’ could be brought into some unified position, but the truth of the matter is that two BILLION people consider themselves part of the same religion despite wide and varied views to the contrary.

I’m sure most are modest enough to admit that they aren’t anywhere near Jesus in the Christ-like department, but they do consider themselves good, true, solid Christians, as you yourself undoubtedly believe by your comment. Yet despite varied views I’m sure you would instead try to classify Christians by their character. So who are you to judge how “Christian” someone is based on a single act that has garnered them a small amount of criticism and attention? They could be a total dick 9-5 yet shitting loaves and fishes on the weekend (twice over on Sunday). And just because your interpretation of one of Jesus’s remarks or acts may hint at one thing for you, someone else may conclude something entirely different. Is that person’s view wrong? And how would that be measured? If someone earnestly tells you they love God with everything in them and know the love of Christ, how can you call bullshit on them when your only defense is the exact same claim?

Comments like this bug the crap out of me because they reek of self-righteous ‘objectivity’ while the poster is completely oblivious to how vague and paltry their stance is.

John Branton, you are performing a logical fallacy

The point is that all of these label themselves as christians and everyone seems to accept it to some degree (at least to the degree it suits you in saying that the US is a predominantly Christian nation). However when some of these christians do something you don’t accept, people are very quick to denounce them as “No True Christians”.

To tell you the truth, being a true christian in outright impossible as the bible contradicts itself so much.
