If you really want to make Abrahamic heads spin, try pointing out that for a long period (during which the book of Jeremiah and other books of the OT were composed) the archaeological evidence supports the idea that the Hebrew people believed in a mother-goddess Asherah who was their god's wife. A goddess who - if she wasn't always a goddess they recognized - was likely borrowed from the people living in Israel before them. Which is only fair, considering she was the wife of the local god whose name was a linguistic cognate for one of the names for the Hebrew god.
